Eni is recruiting a Legal Advisor, to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
Duties
- Liaising with and allocating certain legal work to external law firms
- Identifying the needs of EEA for legal assistance in Mozambique in order to develop and implement the procedure(s) establishing the scope of Legal Department's involvement in decision making processes and other important company procedures, including emergency response, risk analysis, incident reporting
- Analysing Mozambican legislation including regulations, with a particular regard to the oil & gas legal framework which could affect the activities of the Company, ensuring compliance with Mozambican legislation
- Under the supervision of the Legal Manager, ensuring provision of legal assistance to the other departments of the Company, including general corporate advice, advice on labour law, procurement, HSE, property and land law, financial, and other legal issues, diligently attending to work load accordingly
- Advising on litigation and arbitral matters in Mozambique
- Actively manage dispute resolution for Company on the local level with state bodies and/or local entities
- Applying the knowledge of civil and regulatory laws lo administrative hearings or court actions
- Providing guidance and advice on procedural, policy and compliance issues within the Company
- Providing accurate legal interpretation and ad advice on legal matters
- Providing ad advice taking into consideration the business/commercial implications of the advice
- Providing clear and concise legal advice both verbally and in writing
- Keeping up to date with the relevant laws and legislation under which the Company operates
- Providing advice and legal analysis on new legislation and possible impact on Company
Requisites
- Analytical skills and the ability to draft correspondence, notes of advice and basic legal agreements with minimal supervision is essential
- Awareness, good interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
- At least 5-8 years’ experience in commercial and company law with a strong familiarity with general Mozambican laws
- English law experience and experience in the extractive industries sector is desirable
- Portuguese native speaker level and excellent level of English, knowledge of Mozambican law, bar qualification is requested
