Johanniter International Assistance is recruiting a Logistics Assistant, to be based in Pemba, Mozambique.
Description
  • The Job holder will manage and support the provision of logistical support to Johanniter Mozambique programme operations while in compliance to donor, organizational policies and procedures for effective programme delivery. H/She will be responsible for asset management, fleet management, inventory management, travels/booking and facilities management

Duties
Strategy and Vision
  • Actively supports the values of Johanniter and shapes the work of the Mozambique logistics team according to these values
  • Support the implementation of the country logistics strategy in line with the global JIA strategy
Operations and Logistics management
  • Implement logistics functions in accordance with Johanniter and donor guidelines while ensuring strict adherence by programme and support staff
  • Coordinates with the Logistics officer, Procurement assistant and suppliers to ensures that items delivered are properly verified and captured and documents properly filed
  • Ensure proper record keeping, storage and issuing of inventory, physical inventory checks, storage conditions, security and facility maintenance
  • Implement appropriate storage processes, procedures and solutions for items in transit to field locations, ensure proper documentation, packaging and labelling of items before dis-patch
  • Document allocation of assets and ensure that they are tracked, labelled, operated in the most cost-efficient manner, and maintained appropriately
  • Coordinate the dispatch of relief items to field locations and be the focal person for contracted transports to allow timely delivery of items to the field
  • Ensure appropriate allocation and safe use of vehicles and ensure servicing and maintenance schedules for generators /motorcycles are adhered to and properly documented
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance vehicle, motorcycle and generator checks, vehicles have relevant insurances and updated logbooks and safety equipment
  • Implement fleet and base management in accordance with Johanniter and donor guidelines while ensuring strict adherence by programme and support staff
  • Ensure that the most cost effective and reliable means of transport is used for movement of relief items/staff, clearance with customs and government authorities for items being sent to the field
  • Manage fuel issuing and stocks and ensure a transparent system is in place to track usage, delivery, requisition, reorder levels and properly documented
  • As the travel focal person book flights and arrange ground transport for staff travelling to and from Johanniter missions
  • Compile relevant monthly reports and review fleet related documents e.g., logbooks, fuel request for completeness, accuracy in collaboration with drivers and other user departments
  • Maintain accurate filing systems, with documented and supported records of fleet/base activities for audit purposes both manually and electronically in accordance with Johanniter policies and procedures
  • Perform any other duties and task as maybe assigned by the Logistics Coordinator
Requisites
  • Relevant degree, preferably in Logistics/Supply chain management or a related field from a recognized University
  • Relevant 2 years of experience in a similar position with NGOs
  • Demonstrable knowledge of stock management and fleet management
  • Good knowledge and understanding of procurement and logistics procedures
  • Experience working in a busy logistics department within an NGO
  • Demonstrates a systematic and efficient approach to work
  • Works collaboratively with team members to achieve results
  • Relates and works well with people of different cultures, gender and backgrounds
  • Good communication skills
  • Should be able to plan his/her own work on daily/weekly/monthly bases
  • Should be able to submit reports on time
  • Team player
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong working knowledge of Portuguese (spoken and written) and knowledge of English is a plus
Benefits
  • According to JIA Mozambique Salary Grid Remuneration will be of 70.000,00 to 75.000,00 MZN gross depending on previous education and relevant work experience
