Management Accountant

PSI is recruiting a Management Accountant, to be based in Maputo.

Duties
  • Provide direction and strategic leadership for organizational change and development process
  • Inform PSI strategy by formulating programmatic and financial strategy
  • Oversee production of correct and comprehensive monthly financial reporting, and certify financial statements and funder financial reports
  • Review Monthly financial reports and reconciliations, submit for approval and ensure timely submission of monthly financial reports to PSI/W
  • Lead the annual budgeting process and ownership of managerial financial information
  • Perform periodic financial projections in close collaboration with the program teams
  • Perform common cost analysis and update cost ratios on timely basis to ensure each donor bears the correct proportion of common costs
  • Track and review departmental budgets in consultation with budget holders and conduct detailed activity status review and give input to MD and budget holders
  • Review and reconciliation of all donor bills/financial reports prepared by PSI Washington and confirmation on its correctness
  • Review and analyze donor billing prepared by PSI/W and provide feedback to finance team and budget holders through monthly financial reports and respond to donors on billing issues
  • Interact with program & support departments to ensure the accuracy of project financial data
  • Prepare and track budgets. Prepare modifications and Activity realignments as necessary
  • Monitor performance and efficiency of on-going Donor projects by analyzing country/project monthly spend rates and highlighting possible problem areas
  • Work in collaboration with Program Directors and their state leads to establish and support suitable accounting and administrative systems and personnel in all PSI field offices and ensuring our spending’s are per donor budget allocations
  • To monitor Cash Flow management through weekly cash status report, payment scheduling and promptly submission of Operating Advance Request (OAR)
  • Knowledge of latest industry trends and best practices
  • Highest integrity, maturity and professionalism
  • Strong leadership ability, including the capacity to set and manage accountability of self and others
  • Outstanding analytical, spreadsheet and accounting software skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing, and to make effective public presentations
  • Ability to identify financial training needs and develop training programs, either in-house or with external assistance
Requisites
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organization and with staff at remote locations essential
  • Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses
  • Excellent skills in interpreting financial performance, strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written/oral communication skills in both Portuguese and English are essential
