MCH Specialist

FHI360 is recruiting a MCH Specialist, to be based in Maputo.

Duties

• Lead and provide technical thought leadership to develop strategies for MCH and related initiatives working closely with the team
• Ensure program strategies and interventions especially target pregnant and lactating women and children under five years
• Participate in field assessment/design missions, program reviews/evaluations and capacity building and training initiatives to ensure high level quality of program implementation
• Provide technical assistance and capacity strengthening for Project team, partners and key stakeholders identified
• Provide evidence-based advice and recommendations on MCH procedures, guidelines, tools and standards
• Work closely with provincial teams and other technical counterparts to ensure synergistic and comprehensive programming
• Identify successful practices in the project that can be showcased in publications, communication materials and conferences

Requisites

• Experience and demonstrated results in MCH programming
• Knowledge of and experience with the design, management and implementation of MCH interventions in nutrition, agriculture and livelihood programs
• Sensitivity to cultural differences and understanding of the socio-economic and political situation in Mozambique and gender sensitive programming
• Ability to organize systems to monitor results
• Well-developed written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work well with others and to develop and maintain compatibility among project staff, subcontractors, consultants, and recipients of assistance
• Ability to travel as needed
• A Master\'s Degree or higher in the relevant subject area(s), preferably in Social Work, Public Health, International development, or Community Development, is required
• A Proven record of excellent management, leadership, decision-making and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability in project design, implementation and M&E
• Effective English oral and written communication skills; ability to interact professionally in both
• English and Portuguese is required
• Ability to navigate politically sensitive terrain and maintain constructive relationships with a diverse set of key stakeholders
• Demonstrated ability to think strategically and transmit his/her vision to partners and colleagues
