Twigg Exploration & Mining is recruiting a Mining Superintendent (m/f), to be based in Balama, Mozambique.
Duties
- Daily management of planning activities considering monthly, annual and long-term production plans
- Assist in the planning and budgeting of the open pit mine and minimize production cost
- Review deadlines and implement contingency plans necessary to meet production targets
- Perform the technical planning through Surpac and MineSched for the Mining department
- Ensure the modeling of the mine is up to date, and plan all the vital points for the operation of the mine
- Produce, review, and approve operating schedules, plans and designs
- Liaise with the Balama management team and mining contractor to ensure daily, weekly and monthly production and quality conforms to plan
- Responsible for the compilation of short & long term mine plans and other such plans as required
- Compile, review, report and present reconciliation against plan
- Provide leadership and support to the technical services team
- Liaise with consultants on Geotechnical, Hydrology and Hydro-Geology issues
- Assist with Business Improvement project initiatives
- Identify the appropriate skills, competencies and experience required within the department, and implement strategies to address any gaps
- Drive a culture of regular coaching and mentoring with direct reports through facilitation of regular meetings and one-on-one engagement
Requisites
- Experienced history showing Mining Contractor Management
- Mining Engineer or Geologist Qualification
- Experienced history as a Mining Superintendent
- Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum of 7 years’ open pit mining experience
- Mine optimization, mine design, strategic and tactical mine planning and scheduling capability and experience
- Experience with Surpac and MineSched software and strong computer skills across the Microsoft Office suite
- Excellent communication, organizational and problem solving ability
- Strong understanding of the development & implementation of Safety Management Systems
- Demonstrate a detailed understanding of relevant costs and the ability to analyze data to achieve optimal outcomes
