PEPFAR Support Officer

The U.S. Embassy in Maputo is seeking one individual for the position of PEPFAR Support Officer.

This is a senior level administrative support position for the Coordination Office for the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEFPAR) at the U.S. Embassy, a program with over 80 interagency team members from five U.S. government agencies which implements a $260m HIV program per year. The Administrative Assistant will report to the Deputy PEPFAR Coordinator and provide critical support to the Coordinator and Deputy Coordinator on all aspects of programming HIV/AIDS U.S. Government development assistance in Mozambique.

Duties
  • Responsible for administrative and operations functions of the DoS PEPFAR Coordination Office
  • Responsible for the flow of information in the office
  • Responsible for interagency communications
  • Responsible for logistics for meetings and conferences
  • Responsible for the Office/PEPFAR calendar
  • Responsible for organizing and tracking numerous interagency assignments and processes
Requisites
  • A university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent) in organizational or international development, public administration, business administration, management, or other relevant field that affords an understanding of the administration of complex initiatives and multi-disciplinary, diverse teams is required
  • Relevant experience that significantly exceeds the required minimum years along with University studies in a relevant international development discipline may be considered in lieu of a Bachelors degree
  • Three to Five years of progressively responsible office support or administrative assistant experience is required
  • Demonstrable competence in the fields of office administration and secretarial work is required, including the ability to organize meetings and conference logistics
  • Evidence of experience in coordination and networking with and between agencies, departments, and/ or programs during prior work experience is required
  • Some background in HIV/AIDS is desirable
  • Fluency in spoken and written English (Level IV) is required. Basic Portuguese (Level III) is required
  • Must be able to negotiate and influence a variety of people with tact and diplomacy
  • Understand and have broad knowledge of office procedures and administrative management
  • Applicants must possess a broad perspective and thorough knowledge of management and logistics principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office programs such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required
  • Ability to conduct training and public speaking is required. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, outstanding written and oral communication skills, and be able to effectively promote positive and results-oriented interpersonal/inter-organizational relations
