  • The U.S. Mission in Mozambique is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the Preventing Mother-To-Child Transmission Advisor/ PMTCT (Public Health Specialist) position in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) office
Duties
  • Job holder serves as the primary public health technical expert and contact for the agency on all activities aimed at preventing mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) of HIV, including national programs supporting pharmacological treatment of HIV with antiretroviral (ARV) drugs
  • Responsibilities include: planning, organizing, implementing, coordinating, and monitoring for results agency PMTCT program activities conducted in collaboration with various levels of public health stakeholders; day-to-day program and administrative management; and coordination and collaboration with other PEPFAR agencies to ensure project implementation addresses program strategic objectives and internationally recognized public health standards and best practices
  • This management role requires public health technical leadership, results-oriented analysis, advocacy, and constant and clear communication with implementing partners, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and host country ministries (mainly the Ministry of Health
  • Jobholder represents CDC Mozambique on PMTCT issues at technical, policy and strategic planning meetings, including meetings with collaborators and donor agencies
  • Job holder works in context of close coordination with the national program at Ministry of Health, including full participation in technical meetings and planning activities (e.g. coordinating with national program to develop PEPFAR Country Operating Plan)
  • Job holder will be a member of the CDC Mozambique Mother and Child Health (MCH) team and will have an opportunity to contribute to interventions of other teams such as counseling and testing, PrEP, male engagement, mental health among others. In addition, job holder is an integral part of the interagency PEP FAR team and as such may serve in capacities including co-chair of PEPFAR technical working groups
