DAI SPEED is recruiting a Private Sector Development and Access to Finance (PSD&A2F) Intern, to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
Description
  • SPEED is a USAID-funded project to improve the business environment through better trade and investment policies. Its goal is to have more companies doing more business, resulting in increased trade and investment and a stronger competitive position for Mozambican firms, thus creating local opportunities for jobs and income growth. SPEED focuses on reforming trade and investment policies and also emphasizes the policy implementation process, including monitoring implementation of reforms
  • The impact of SPEED interventions are supposed to be monitored based in a pragmatic and systematic framework. It is basically for estimating the monetary benefits for Mozambique from policy changes supported by SPEED
  • Thus, the purpose of this position is, essentially, to ensure an accurate estimation of the impact of SPEED interventions
Duties
  • The specific duties include, but are not limited to:
Support the Portfolio Manager in administering and following-up on different assignments
  • Attend meetings, take notes, translate short documents, draft reports, and prepare Presentations
  • Assist short-and long-term consultants by collecting and analyzing relevant data
  • Assist with the drafting of reports (weekly, quarterly, annually)
  • Assist in events (workshops/seminars) planning and implementation: draft and send invites, provide assistance to participants, take notes and draft event reports
Support the Monitoring and evaluation
  • Participate in field work for selected activities, interview, gather information and data, process and produce reports
Other tasks
  • Participate in and perform other relevant duties as may be assigned by the supervisor
Requisites
  • Student currently enrolled in a degree (or equivalent) in Economics, Business, Agribusiness, Accounting, Finance, Development Studies, or any other relevant field (university degree or diploma completed preferred)
  • Willingness to acquire new knowledge and being flexible
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing in both Portuguese and English
  • Basic Computer Skills such as familiarity with word processing and spreadsheet programs, presentation program, navigate the web, use and manage emails, cloud storage tools, etc
  • Research and analytical skills
  • A mature understanding of development policy issues and challenges
  • Carry out gender and age-analyses of various topics related to private sector development and produce short briefing notes and presentations on the subject. (Background in gender analysis is an advantage)
