AMOG is recruiting a Project Manager (m/f), to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
Duties
  • Provide strategic direction of all project activities. Develop and update the project strategic plan, ensuring that programmatic directions are technically sound, evidence-based, and consistent
  • Develop reports to AMOG and FIGO
  • Create abstracts and articles on the experience to be presented in national and international conferences
  • Oversee development of materials, manuals, curriculum's, and other tools to ensure they are evidence-based and tailored to the project’s target populations
  • Develop and update technical strategies
  • Lead the implementation of new approaches/strategies
  • Ensure that project performance objectives and mandates are implemented in a timely fashion and meet the highest quality standards
  • Cultivate and strengthen positive, productive relationships with the Government of Mozambique through the Ministry of Health, ensuring that AMOG is consistently viewed as an effective implementing partner achieving project targets
  • Manage and coordinate activities of subcontractors and partners to create synergy and ensure that project responsibilities are carried out in accordance with donor regulations
  • Employ management procedures to ensure resources are in place, adhered to, and in compliance with donor rules and regulations. Select, hire, and supervise staff; assign roles and responsibilities, manage performance
  • Lead a periodic implementation review process to monitor progress and to identify specific actions that may be needed to achieve expected results
  • Oversee budget pipeline development and monitoring and conduct monthly reviews to ensure accountability of all project activities as well as the accurate and timely reporting of finance deliverables
  • In collaboration with project staff, establish and maintain the ongoing administrative and financial operations, ensuring compliance with AMOG policy and FIGO contract provisions
  • Ensure that appropriate security guidelines and procedures are established, maintained, updated regularly, and adhered to by staff
  • Responsible for making sure that the project progresses according to contract and acting as a liaison with the representative to the donor in regard to matters of operation and must be aware of all contractual obligations and make sure that they are met on the project
Requisites
  • A Master’s degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, or related degree, and at least 5 years of senior-level management experience in managing large and complex projects; or a Medical degree including specialization in Obstetrics and Gynecology accompanied with large experience in managing large and complex projects
  • At least 5 years of senior-level management experience in managing large, complex, donor-funded projects
  • At least 7 years of supervision experience
  • Proven ability to manage, motivate and mentor staff at all levels and create a positive team environment
  • Capability to work under pressure
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the health context and structural issues in Mozambique including socioeconomic, institutional and policy issues that are related to abortion and contraceptive services
  • Large experience in the field of abortion services and abortion advocacy
  • Experience working with complex programs involving short deadlines, multiple tasks, in coordination with multiple partners, to achieve expected results
  • Strong presentation skills including the ability to present and undertake high-level policy dialogue with the Government of Mozambique through the Ministry of Health and other related institutions
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Fluency in English and Portuguese Ability to travel throughout Mozambique
  • Strong skills and experience in all aspects of program cycle management – design and development, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation
  • Proven coaching and facilitation skills
  • Excellent knowledge of Mozambique Government approaches and regulations
  • Understanding of AMOG development assistance mission, values, and principles
  • Ability to navigate politically sensitive terrain and maintain constructive relationships with a diverse set of key stakeholders
