Project Manager

Muva is recruiting a Project Manager, to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.

Description

• MUVA is a programme funded by UKAID that aims to see urban, disadvantaged adolescent girls and young women gain enhanced capacity and agency to make use of decent economic opportunities in an increasingly supportive environment
• To achieve this ambition, the MUVA programme will work in several urban areas in Mozambique to identify, test and learn from approaches that can make a significant and transformative change for adolescent girls and young women and take change to scale
• The role of the private sector team is to identify, design with partners, test and manage FEE private sector related intervention One of the projects the private sector team is currently designing is MuvaTech
• The project objective is to provide access to technology to empower girls both economically and agency to parents and communities. Most girls and women have had limited access interest into information and communications technology (ICT), based in limited access throughout their school and social life and few university, technical and vocational courses focus on ICT and the tech needs of the labour market, as well gender stereotypes where women have no space within the world of ICT Muva Tech will test approaches that could potentially bridge this gap

Duties

• Support the project technical and implementation design
• Manage the project implementation
• Build up linkage with the private sector and develop a portfolio of private sector partners
• Ensure coordination and synergy with the other Muva projects The role is a full time position for one year based in Maputo to start as soon as possible The project manager will split his time as follows: 50% of the time will be spent in the Muva offices and 50% in the partners’ offices including IdeaRio in Chamanculo

Requisites

• Experience in the education service delivery (formal or informal education, vocational training or other courses), education projects design and management, teaching and pedagogy
• Experience in project implementation, project management or management of an educational institute
• Capacity of mobilize and work in bairros
• Strong coordination, organization and communication skills; strong (proven) drafting skills and the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and clients, both verbally and in writing, and remotely
• Commitment to the Muva goals
• Professional fluency in both English and Portuguese
• Ability to work flexibly and to take on new challenges, in particular to new methodological approaches, with a variety of partners in different offices and locations in Mozambique
• Willingness to travel to Beira
• Understanding of the ICT sector, programming and coding
