Oxfam is recruiting a Project Officer (m/f), to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
Description
- For our Extractive Industries (EI) Programme in Southern Africa we are looking for a Project Officer (Southern African nationalities)
- Location: In any of our South African countries Zambia, Malawi, Zimbabwe, South Africa or Mozambique
- Contract type: Fixed term - one year
Duties
Programme Support and Management
- Support identification, assessment and relationship-building with potential partners and allies, ensuring appropriate standards and relevant approaches are used for each partner arrangement, including assessing partner needs and creating appropriate capacity building plans, detailing tools and methodologies, performance and accountability requirements and evaluation approaches
- Provide general program and administrative support across the SAF EI program, ensuring the program is equipped with efficient and effective systems and procedures
- Support in investigating and developing new project ideas
Organizacional Management and compliance
- Support regular monitoring and evaluation processes to continually assess project performance and delivery against agreed results and recommend action to ensure delivery is achieved
- Facilitate the smooth and effective management of unit meetings, including scheduling meetings, supporting the production of agendas, producing high quality minutes, setting up appropriate IT to ensure the effective participation of all staff, regardless of location, and arrangement appropriate facilities and equipment for offsite meetings
Funding and Donor Management
- Participate in relevant fund raising activities, monitoring funding opportunities and support response to these opportunities with approved concept notes/proposals
- Participate in the development of sector related donor proposals, budget submissions and other necessary activities to secure funding for programme objectives
Requisites
- Candidates should as a minimum meet the following requirements:
- A primary degree in Development Social Science, Public Policy, Economics or other relevant field
- Experience, preferably within a large development or humanitarian organization
- Excellent knowledge of programme development and delivery approaches, tools, methodologies and best practices
- Knowledge and experience in implementing EI initiatives, ideally built on mature understanding of relevant issues derived from field experience in Southern Africa
- Excellent communication skills, in written and verbal English
