  • The Bantwana Initiative (www.bantwana.org) of World Education (www.worlded.org) (WEI/Bantwana) is a recognized leader in delivering integrated comprehensive interventions to improve HIV outcomes and the quality of life for orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) and their families affected by HIV and poverty. WEI/Bantwana builds the capacity of communities, civil society and governments to coordinate and deliver integrated comprehensive services for vulnerable children and families, while strengthening structures and service delivery across the HIV continuum of care
  • WEI/Bantwana is currently recruiting for a Provincial Coordinator, based in Zambezia, to support the implementation of an evidence-based Adolescent Girl and Young Women (AGYW) Economic Strengthening Model – Siyakha Girls. This model seeks to equip AGYW with foundational and vocational skills and establish linkages to appropriate mentorship opportunities with the goal of supporting their participation in decent work within both the formal and informal economic growth sectors. The Provincial Coordinator will coordinate all Siyakha technical assistance activities in the province. S/he will play a key role in managing on-the-ground technical, administrative, and financial inputs to achieve project objectives
Duties
  • Coordinate WEI/Bantwana’s Technical Assistance (TA) activities to support the roll out of a holistic economic empowerment model (Siyakha Girls) for AGYW in 12 districts of Zambezia province
  • Work closely with WEI/Bantwana’s Core Capacity Development team to support and achieve the planned objectives, outputs, and deliverables for the Siyakha program, in a manner that achieves greatest coverage and impact and ensures timely achievement of program results in Zambezia province
  • Provide technical and on-the-ground support to all WEI/Bantwana provincial level staff to ensure quality and fidelity to the model implementation
  • Create linkages with both the private and public sector for market driven livelihood opportunities for OVC and AGYW
  • Keep abreast of and routinely analyze and monitor trends, opportunities and challenges, and emerging best practices in market linkages and economic strengthening for vulnerable households and AGYW.
  • Provide support and advice to facilitate decision making regarding the model based on learning from implementation from the field
  • Maintain good relations with relevant government ministries, technical partners and other stakeholders, and represent WEI/Bantwana at various forums/stakeholders’ meetings in Zambezia
  • Lead documentation of all Siyakha activities, tasks, achievements and success stories
  • Provide monthly and quarterly reports on all technical, administrative, and financial activities and relevant issues to the Siyakha TA in Zambezia
Requisites
  • Bachelor’s degree and demonstrated experience in the field of economic strengthening, youth/agriculture livelihoods, or youth empowerment and development
  • Diplomacy and negotiation skills that demonstrate ability to collaborate and coordinate with a range of stakeholders and complex priorities
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative and manage a variety of activities concurrently
  • A strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a high profile, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to communicate technical issues effectively and persuasively
  • Experience in monitoring projects and collecting relevant data
  • Strong practical and theoretical experience in youth skill development with at least 7 years of work experience in project support, particularly with vulnerable youth
  • Experience delivering trainings and facilitating workshops, particularly with youth or vulnerable learners
  • Previous experience working with USAID funded programs, and preferably with DREAMS programming
  • Demonstrated capacity to lead and supervise a staff of 10+ field staff
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and to write clearly and accurately
  • Willingness to travel and to work outside normal working hours when necessary
