US Embassy is recruiting a Public Affairs Education/Exchange Unpaid Internship, to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
Duties
- Assist Education/Exchanges team with recruitment, selection, pre-departure logistics, and return programs for U.S. government (USG)-sponsored exchange program participants and students interested in studying in the U.S. The intern also will help to develop and implement recruitment methods specifically targeting individuals in the Central and Northern provinces and underrepresented groups.
Candidates with contacts (e.g. Academic or professional networks) within Maputo, in the central and northern provinces, or within organizations for underrepresented groups, are specially sought
- Organizing outreach events and developing materials to promote USG exchange programs
- Assisting in coordination of selection process, including organizing interviews, preparing materials, and scheduling language proficiency tests
- Assisting in arranging pre-departure orientations and travel logistics for exchange program participants departing for the United States
- Acting as note taker during debriefing meetings with returned Exchange participants
- Monitoring e-mail box and responding to inquiries about U.S. study and training opportunities
- Maintaining directory of exchange program alumni
Requisites
- All applicants must address each selection criterion in their DS-174 application and Certificates confirming education detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item in ENGLISH. If that area is not clearly addressed or there is ambiguity, the application will not be considered further. Language skills will be tested. Any application received in Portuguese will not be considered. Only English applications will be received and considered
- At least two years of University level or recent graduate in any field
- Level 4 Speaking/Reading/Writing English is required (This will be tested)
- Level 4 (Fluency) Speaking/Reading/Writing Portuguese is required. (This will be tested)
- Must have ability to work independently and multitask, good communications skills, flexibility, and attention to details, must be familiar with social media platforms, and be professional and able to interact with individuals of different ages and diverse background
