US Embassy is recruiting a Public Affairs - Social Media Intern, to be based in Maputo.
Duties
- In accordance with Article 243 of the Local Labor Law, pre-professional traineeships shall count towards professional experience. There are no financial benefits attached to this internship and no compensation, nor any future employment guarantees or privileges. No stipend, food allowance or transportation allowance will be given to interns. The U.S. Mission will, however, provide interns with evaluations in support of their receiving academic credit for the internship and as proof of professional experience
- This position reports to the Social Media and Youth Outreach Coordinator and is part of the Press team within the Public Affairs Section. The intern will work closely with the Social Media team to ensure high-quality posts on a regular basis
- This person will also provide support at PAS events
- Assist with refining a social media strategy and develops content for all platforms
- Evaluates and drafts a strategy for the introduction of an Instagram account
- Serves as the official photographer and/or videographer at events upon request
- Edits and catalogs all videos and photographs
- Creates graphic design for event posters
Requisites
- All applicants must address each selection criterion in their resume/CV detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item in ENGLISH. If that area is not clearly addressed or there is ambiguity, the application will not be considered further. Language skills will be tested
- Final-year or graduate student in a University in the SADC region
- One year of experience developing social media content for a personal or professional Facebook account, Twitter handle, or LinkedIn page
- One year of personal or professional experience in at least one of the following areas: video and photography equipment, photography software, publication lay out, video editing, OR graphic design
- Level 4 (Fluency) Speaking/Reading/Writing English and Portuguese. (This will be tested)
