Description
- The U.S. Mission in Maputo/Mozambique is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Public Engagement Assistant (Alumni and Established Opinion Leader Coordinator)
Duties
- The Alumni and Established Opinion Leaders (EOL) Coordinator works under the direct supervision of the Public Diplomacy Officer (PDO) or Public Affairs Officer (PAO) designee and receives work guidance from the Emerging Voices (EV) Specialist. The position has no supervisory responsibilities
- Plans, develops, and coordinates the Mission’s alumni programs for former participants of Emerging Voices (EV) exchanges, including youth and communities that are not included in traditional U.S. diplomatic engagement, such as civil society groups and populations vulnerable to extremist appeals, and EOL exchanges, including influential individuals and institutions, such as think tanks, syndicates, labor unions, professional associations, civil society, cultural organizations, prominent academics, and professional training institutions. Designs, plans, and implements a broad range of activities to maintain contact with alumni of all EV and EOL activities and initiatives
- Develops strategies for engaging EV and EOL exchanges alumni over the long term, analyzes the effectiveness of those strategies, and recommends adjustments accordingly. Is the leading locally employed (LE) staff strategist/advisor responsible for Mission’s Public Diplomacy (PD) engagement with established opinion leaders
- Designs and recommends PD strategies to connect with EOL audiences to build and sustain productive dialogue and promote an understanding of and support for U.S. policy. Plans, develops, coordinates, oversees, and evaluates projects and initiatives to engage EOL subject matter experts and the audiences they reach
