The U.S. Embassy in Maputo is seeking one individual for the position of Public Health Specialist (Senior Site Coordinator).
Duties
The incumbent, under the direct supervision and guidance of the CDC Care and Treatment Branch Chief, will work in a dynamic and innovative working environment as part of the Care and Treatment Branch to provide critical field supervision and oversight over the technical programs the CDC’s Care and Treatment Branch supports in 7 of Mozambique’s 11 Provinces. These areas include:
- HIV Care and Treatment (adult and pediatric)
- HIV/TB
- Cervical Cancer
- Community Clinical Linkages
- Quality Improvement
- Nutrition
Requisites
- M.D. or Ph.D. in Epidemiology or related field required
- Seven or more years of related experience in HIV/AIDS or other medical care, epidemiology, infectious diseases or related scientific area is required
- Level IV (Fluency) in English is required; Level III (ability to communicate) in Portuguese is required
- Ability to write professional documents and articles in English to submit for publication is required
- Knowledge of the principles, concepts, methods, and techniques of public health programs, especially in the area of HIV/AIDS and the ability to analyze, evaluate, and provide expert advice and consultation is required
- Knowledge of the principles, methods, applications, and state-of-the-art technology in the area of HIV/AIDS care and treatment to provide direction and guidance on critical and complex issues is required
- Ability to perform complex analytical studies and interpret results to coordinate the evaluation of programs and recommend improvements is required
- Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, to make clear, convincing presentations, explain and justify recommendations; explain policies and programs of the agency and assigned program or project areas; provide guidance and advise program administrators and the community; respond to inquiries, and interact with high level officials and representatives from public and private organizations is required
- Advanced skill levels in use of data analysis software packages and excellent overall computer skills are required
