Quality Officer – Staff and Facilities (m/f)

Description

• The Crede Mozambique, Lda, Located in Inhambane Province, District of Morrumbene-Cambine, operates a coconut processing facility with some mango processing in the summer. The company currently employs 180 staff and wishes to increase its quality control capabilities. The factory is organically certified successfully completed its first FSA audit. The company intends expanding its certifications to include HACCP and FSSC 22000 over the coming two years

Duties

• The Quality Officer will be responsible for all aspects of food safety and quality control as they relate to the factory facilities and the cleanliness, hygiene and food safety training of staff. This includes, but is not limited to:
• Facilities cleaning – manage a cleaning staff, external pest control, waste disposal, etc.
• Facilities testing (e.g. water testing, equipment swabs)
• Facilities compliance – ensure that facilities remain compliant with all food safety requirements at all times, helping maintenance team identify areas that need to be addressed
• Staff hygiene (daily hygiene checks, monthly hand swabs, protective clothing, etc.)
• Staff Training (internal and external)
• Documentation – maintain as required by food safety system
• In addition, as the company grows these responsibilities may change or be added to

Requisites

• The Candidate must be self-directed, able to work independently within a management team
• Minimum 2 years of HACCP/Food operations experience
• Good spoken English and Portuguese is required. The company is owned by a South African business and some management team members speak only English. The factory operations are mainly in Portuguese
• Willing to work Saturdays/Evenings (sometimes)
• University degree in relevant field, e.g. process engineer, food scientist, etc.
• Laboratory skills are not essential but will be considered a plus
