Contact is recruiting for his client, Anadarko, the world's largest independent oil and natural gas exploration and production companies, with 2.86 billion barrels of oil equivalent (BBOE) of proved reserves at year-end 2014, a Resettlement Engagement Coordinator, to be based in Maputo.
Duties
- Reporting to the Resettlement Process Manager, will represents the Project in relation to the resettlement affected communities, Government and other interested parties
- Specific liaison and coordination will be undertaken with National and Provincial government institutions
- Support and guidance will be provided to the Resettlement Engagement Field Coordinator for the engagement of local government and communities
- In addition, should provide relevant and necessary information to ensure the continuous update of the stakeholder database for the project
- Implement the Resettlement Engagement Plan (REP) and continually monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the REP while the plan is being implemented
- Facilitate and support the functioning of the Technical Commission for Monitoring and Supervision of Resettlement and respective provincial and district resettlement committees
- Collaborate with the Stakeholder Engagement Organization to manage and respond to all resettlement related grievances and issues
- Engage with project affected communities (through Community Resettlement Committees) in order to build relationships and conclude negotiations on compensation mitigation measures and other entitlements
- Support the development of engagement materials to be distributed to resettlement stakeholders
- Ensure coordination of the Resettlement Engagement Team activities and develop their professional skills and knowledge
- Works closely with the Resettlement Site Manager, Replacement Village Manager, Resettlement Program Manager. Supervises the Resettlement Engagement Field Coordinator
- Ensure coordination of site engagement with the Afungi Community Affairs Supervisor
- Consult with the compliance advisor as necessary on resettlement engagement activities
- Any other tasks as required by the Resettlement Process Manager
Requisites
- Bachelor’s degree preferably with an Environmental, Social Studies or related field is required
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in stakeholder engagement and government liaison role
- Experience with resettlement activities and other African oil and gas experience is preferred
- Effective communication and leadership skills

- Fluent oral and written knowledge of English is required
- Knowledge of Portuguese or Swahili language is an advantage
