Senior Accountant (m/f)

Duties

• The main responsibilities are collection, capturing, analyzing and reporting of Cost Accounting Data as a support function to the Finance Director/Country corporate Finance Manager. The primary objectives inter alia include:
• Continuous monitoring and improvement of cost accounting measures
• Detailed analyses of expenditure, allocations and trends in comparison to Operational and Capex Budgets at Cost Centre and Company level
• Availability of accurate and up to date unit, activity and operational costs for management purposes
• Improvement of the accuracy and integrity of data utilized for management accounting purposes
• Timely availability of detailed cost accounting reports and returns as required by Finance
• Director/Country corporate Finance Manager and Line Management
• Improved processes and procedures relating to cost

Key accountabilities/deliverables

• Collect (Capture), maintain (keep) and analyses operational Costs (Opex) at different level of cost centers (Department, business unit, company level, etc.)
• Continuous analyses of expenditure and allocation of costs as well as reporting of deviations from approved methodology, policies and budgeted activities
• Maintain data and calculate Vehicle, Machine, Asset Management, Overheads etc. costs
• Collect, maintain (capture) and analyse operational costs (Plantation, Workshop, etc.) at Cost Centre, Department and Company level Comparison and reporting on deviations of Standard/Average Costs in comparison to actual
• Budget process and analyses, clarification and feedback on deviations from approved guidelines/amounts
• Prepare financial statements (Balance sheet, income statement and statement of cash flow)
• Financial Analysis (Performing financial analysis and report on results, and present recommendations)
• Inventory Management Report and analysis
• Inventory management (have knowledge of either manufacturing accounting or inventory Management using any methods – ABS, Moving average, standard cost)
• Prepare and submit monthly cost accounting reports in respect of all above mentioned items including feedback and proposed ways forward on all critical issues or deviations. This must be done for opex, capex and other overhead items
• Provide proposals on corrective actions which may be required to improve quality of cost accounting
• Provision of supplementary information, data and assistance which may be required
• Avoids legal challenges by complying with legal requirements
• Audit process (Audit various payment transactions e.g. changes in payment instructions, benefit deletions, suspensions & reinstatements, adjustments, etc., to ensure adherence to relevant financial regulations and rules)
• A compliance report on Legal, company policy, procedures and best practices, and analysis of risks and challenges in such areas
• Perform other duties as required

Requisites

• Degree/Diploma in Accountancy
• Registration as Certified Public Accountant (CPA, ACCA, CA or CIMA) will be a recommendation
• Member of Order of Accountants and Auditors of Mozambique (OCAM)
• Working experience in public accounting (at least 2 seasons) in the big 4 (PWC, Deloitte, EY or KPMG) is preferred
• Knowledge of IFRS reporting
• Knowledge of new transfer pricing rules (Mozambique)
• Knowledge/experience in inter-company reporting
• Very Good Knowledge of either manufacturing accounting or inventory management, using any of the most applicable methods in use in the Forest industry (ABS, Moving average, standard cost, etc.)
• Excellent computer literacy (advance level hardware and relevant software) and information processing skills
• Knowledge of using accounting software (Sage products would be an advantage)
• Fluency (both oral and written) in Portuguese and English, is preferred
