  • The U.S. Mission in Maputo/Mozambique is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of CDC- Senior Immunization Advisor (Public Health Specialist)
Duties
  • Under the supervision of the Associate Director for Global Health Security and Public Health Response, the incumbent will provide technical support to the Government of Mozambique (GRM), Ministry of Health (MISAU), National Institute for Health (Instituto Nacional de Saude, INS), and other participating partners to inform the strategic and technical direction of the surveillance and immunization activities for polio, measles, cholera and other vaccine-preventable diseases being implemented by the Mozambique Ministry of Health (MISAU)
  • As part of CDC Mozambique, and in coordination with CDC Global Immunization Division, the specialist will work closely with international partners including the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI), WHO, and UNICEF, as well as Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) residents to support MISAU in national immunization efforts, a key requirement towards polio eradication
  • Projects may include those in coordination with the African Field Epidemiology Network (AFENET) advising national immunization strategic plans as well as provincial and district microplanning, monitoring immunization campaign implementation, conducting immunization site visits, supporting conduct of large, complex surveys designed to measure reportable routine immunization (RI) coverage such as Lot Quality Assurance Surveys and other immunization indicators, etc.
  • Additionally, the specialist will work with CDC Global Immunization Division (GID) and DGHP implementing partners to support MISAU in promoting and implementing diverse immunization activities for multiple antigens, including but not limited to polio, cholera, measles, hepatitis B, typhoid, and COVID-19. Sixty percent of time will be spent on polio and remaining on other VPD activities
