World Food Programme is recruiting a Senior Logistics Assistant - SC G 6, to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.

Duties
  • At this level, job holder is expected to assist Logistics Officer by providing monitoring and reporting on implantation of trust fund grant, as well as supporting the logistics team on performing standard logistics/supply chain processes and activities to enable effective delivery of goods and services for all delivery modalities
  • Monitoring and Reporting on Trust fund implementation
  • Consolidate all information regarding trust funds implementation progress and ensure that all donors’ required reports are disseminated in line with pre-defined schedules
  • Work closely with implementation teams to identify and report on potential constraints
  • In coordination with funds procurement sections, identify potential shortfalls and propose mitigation actions
  • Assist the Logistics officer by participating on the joint site missions, as well as by identifying potential technical gaps and supply chain related coaching, guidance and training requirements for health facilities staff
  • Logistics Operation: Assist logistics office by supporting the implementation of logistics operations and activities, in accordance with existing standard processes and contributing, directly or indirectly, to the effective delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries
  • Assist the Logistics officer on managing complex operational issues for Maputo corridor and provide solutions or recommendations related to all assistance modalities, using initiative and following processes, to ensure the provision of timely resolutions with excellent client service mind-set
  • In close collaboration with Program and Resource Management Units, identify potential operational gaps and ensure timely delivery of commodities and supplies to authorized partners and destinations
  • Assist contracting Unit by providing regular Logistics Operation service provider’s activities performance monitoring analysis and recommendations
  • Gather market intelligence, coordinate vendor assessments (e.g. transporters, retailers) and produce relevant reports to support vendor selection process
  • Assist Logistics officer by preparing, monitor and revising budget for all delivery modalities, ensuring adherence to relevant procedures and in compliance with corporate standards
  • Monitor inventory management processes to track trends and account for the inventory status from source to beneficiary
  • Support oversight for commodity accounting data quality and integrity
  • Assist Logistics officer by overseeing and coordinate a full range of documentation processing for execution of logistics operations (e.g. customs clearance, invoice verification), take appropriate actions to address issues and recommend improvements in processes
  • Perform research, collect data and conduct analysis to produce comprehensive reports (e.g. CCTI, SPRs, financial closure, physical inventory, transport performance) providing insight and recommendations that enable informed decision-making
  • Coordinate and liaise with internal and external stakeholders to support logistics operations management and strengthen partnerships on humanitarian supply chain
  • Assist logistics officer by providing technical advice, coaching, guidance and training to operations staff, to ensure individual and team objectives are delivered to agreed standards and deadlines for all assistance modalities
  • Participate in logistics emergency preparedness and response activities including Logistics Capacity Assessment and Contingency Plan update, to support WFP’s response in emergencies
Requisites
  • Experience coordinating with transportation providers and third parties
  • Experience reporting to donors
  • Experience assisting in project management
  • Experience in preparing and managing budgets
  • Experience in implementing Humanitarian emergency response
  • Experience in working with SAP/3 or other corporate supply chain systems
  • Standard minimum academic qualifications:
  • University degree or post-secondary certificate in the related functional area
  • Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Portuguese
