World Food Programme is recruiting a Senior Programme Associate-SSA-5, to be based in Tete, Mozambique.
Duties
  • Under the guidance of the Head of Sub Office, the incumbent will perform the below tasks:
  • Act as the main coordinator at the field level for lean season support activities
  • Provide guidance, on-the-job training, technical and strategic guidance to field monitors, partners and district Government staff at the provincial level for the planning and implementation of activities
  • Act as focal point for collaboration with partners and the government clarifying programme objectives, methodology, and timeframe and ensure clear and continuous communication with partners on programme performance
  • Develop a detailed schedule of activities indicating timeframes and clear roles and responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed budgets for sub office required funds
  • Produce weekly progress reports on all activities
  • Ensure robust mainstreaming of gender into WFP programming and operation
  • Support, in collaboration with the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Unit, the consolidation of outputs monitoring reports, including but not limited to number beneficiaries reached with gender/age breakdown and amounts transferred
  • Support ensuring that complain mechanisms are put in place and are operational
  • Support to organize monthly meetings with the district and provincial governments to review the implementation activities
  • Perform other related duties as required
Requisites
  • Advanced University degree in Political Science, Economics, Statistics, Information Management or Project Management, Social Sciences or other relevant fields, or First University degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses
  • Typically 3 years or more of postgraduate professional experience in a relevant field of work, with a background and interest in international humanitarian development, with working knowledge on Cash Based Transfers modality and Social Protection/Social Assistance
  • Desired experiences for entry into the role:
  • Sound experience in project management in a related field
  • Experience in project implementation and coordination among several teams
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze and interpret information and draw out the key messages
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, able to clearly articulate insights to stakeholders in WFP
  • Good networking skills and capacity to build and maintain professional contacts
  • Leadership skills and excellent interpersonal skill. Ability to lead and motivate
  • In-depth understanding of WFP program, objectives and strategic priorities
  • Willingness to travel extensively to the field
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
  • Fluency (level C) in English & Portuguese
