Twigg Exploration & Mining, LDA is recruiting a Shift Metallurgical Technician, to be based in Balama-Cabo Delgado, Mozambique.
Duties
- Provide ongoing reporting and preliminary data analysis in relation to the condition of the processing facility
- Minimizing delays through rapid response to uncontrolled events
- Continually monitor the performance of the plant and readily address or escalate all issues
- Provide technical assistance to their shift to maintain control of the circuit and optimize production
- Ensure all technical issues are communicated in shift handover activities as required
- Monitor reagent mixing and additions
- Provide technical advice and support to their shift as required
- Record consumption of metallurgical consumables and stocks
- Provide input to the Process Plant Physical Accounting and Reconciliation processes
- Undertake daily work area inspections and report / rectify faults / issues to immediately
- Conduct take 5 and job hazard analysis assessments on work activities as required
- Report all Hazards, Incidents and Near Misses in line with Company policies and procedures
- Continually monitor the plant environment to ensure the safety of yourself and other workers
- Make improvement recommendations to the Process Engineer & continually increase the level of safety in the plant and other associated facilities
- Monitor shift compliance to production planning and grade control
- Ensure accurate and reliable technical information is recorded for the daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly production to plan reporting
- Monitor production progress and report any deviations if final product does not meet quality standards and customer specifications as per the production plan
- Perform metallurgical surveys and test-work as directed
- Identify and report process bottlenecks and inefficiencies
- Contribute to optimization projects throughout the Process Plant
- Make improvement recommendations to the Processing Team to continually increase the level of processing efficiency of the plant and other associated facilities
- Coach and mentor all team members to build capability across our Mozambique workforce
- Liaise with laboratory personnel to ensure appropriate safe operations and professionalism
- Assist the Process Plant operations workforce in their learning, training and development
Requisites
- Tertiary qualification in Metallurgy and/or Process Engineering or equivalent
- Experience in a similar role preferably with a primary flotation focus
- Plant start-up and commissioning experience highly desirable
- Graphite processing experience highly desirable
- Experience with Metallurgical Accounting and Sampling Procedures
- Pro-activeness and proven capacity to think conceptually and make assertive decisions
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work cohesively with team members
- Sound computer proficiency with intermediate MS Office skills & an advanced Excel skill level
- Experience with fixed plant control systems
- Experience with hydro cyclones, milling, thickeners, wet and dry screening equipment
- Experience with in-line elemental analyzers
- Laboratory experience highly desirable
