PSI is recruiting a Social and Behavior Change Director, to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.

  • PSI seeks a charismatic leader, a social and behavior change (SBC) talent, a strategist, an innovator, and an excellent people and project manager. ALL in one individual! He/she is a natural-born communicator. He/she has experience working in social and behavior change, a proven track record in human-centered design with developed core skills across research, data analysis, portfolio management, corporate communications, and SBC planning and execution
  • He/she is a tech enthusiast and have experience in developing innovative and impactful digital health solutions that are continuously improved using a combination of research, routine monitoring data, and programmatic dashboards
  • Above all, he/she has an infectious energy for building empathy with our consumers leveraging their insights to design solutions that are tailored to their needs and desires
Duties
  • The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Country Representative, in close collaboration with the Chief of Party, Program Operations and support teams. He/she will learn about what happens in the health system, combine that with all its experience and the needs of our consumers, and design solutions that bring health closer to them. He/she will then package that information into compelling business cases that contribute to and inform our communication strategy:Lead program design through the rigorous application of the PSI design framework to inform annual planning and support the business development of PSI Mozambique
  • Lead and coordinate market assessments and analysis, including market landscape research, market sizing activities, and consumer segmentation, in close collaboration with the Evidence department
  • Champion a consumer-centric approach to all activities – supporting teams in building empathy with consumers and translating insights into effective solutions;
  • Lead the design and implementation of social and behavior change strategies for both products and services
  • Promote the appropriate and effective use of SBC methodologies to build programs and drive impactful execution of strategies
  • Leverage the use of technology to make the delivery of our activities more efficient and effective, through the operationalization of the PSI Mozambique Digital Strategy
  • Oversee the design and implementation of PSI Mozambique’s corporate communication strategy
  • Lead a team of brilliant and enthusiastic marketing, communication, and development professionals across the full portfolio of PSI Mozambique programs – including water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), HIV, sexual and reproductive health (SRH), and malaria
Requisites
  • Master’s Degree (or international equivalent) MSc, MPH, MBA, MHA, MPA or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • At least 7 years of related work experience in public health or related field including 5 years of people management experience
  • At least 5 years of demonstrated experience in designing and managing comprehensive behavior change initiatives that are based on the identification of influential behavioral determinants of behaviors for priority audiences
  • Experience with the development and use of consumer and provider-facing digital solutions
  • Excellent diplomatic skills and proven ability to work effectively with government officials, partners, donors, and stakeholders at high levels
  • Ability to monitor and assess performance of self, other individuals, and / or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and planning skills, with emphasis on the ability to operationalize and oversee the execution of SBC and corporate communications activities
  • Strong leadership skills, with a demonstrated ability to collaborate and work across teams and roles
  • Ability to persuade and motivate people and teams
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Portuguese and English required
