Stakeholder Engagement Superintendent

Twigg Exploration & Mining is recruiting a Stakeholder Engagement Superintendent, to be based in Balama, Mozambique.

Duties
  • Develop and implement stakeholder engagement strategies providing a framework for proactively engaging and communicating with stakeholders (i.e. employees, contractors, suppliers, communities, relevant government bodies and other stakeholders), as appropriate
  • Provide guidance on mapping stakeholders and their issues, implement and update where necessary the Stakeholder Engagement Plan (SEP), selecting engagement techniques and managing tense situations with stakeholders
  • Assist in the identification of key socio-economic, human rights, health and safety, and environmental issues which need to be managed
  • Secure feedback on the effectiveness and suitability of the environmental and social impact management plan and socio-economic initiatives
  • Continuous liaison with the relevant stakeholders based on respect, appreciation of diverse people, views, cultural identities, language preferences, as well as gender-sensitive and literacy considerations
  • Manage stakeholders’ concerns, perceptions and expectations
  • Identify solutions to problems and inform performance indicators, which have relevance for both stakeholders and the company
Requisites
  • Extensive and diverse experience in stakeholder engagement and/or management
  • Strong understanding of consultation principles and tools and ability to apply these effectively
  • Experience and deep understanding of the traditional authority structure
  • Highly developed influencing and relationship management skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills in English, Portuguese and Macua will be a preference
  • High level project management skills
  • Ability to work closely with and lead a small team
  • Tenacity and perseverance in dealing with widely diverse human relationships
  • Degree in Social sciences, political science, public affairs or related discipline
  • Minimum three (4) years’ experience working in a community stakeholder level role in the Mine Industries in line with World Bank/IFC Standards
  • Previous exposure to technical aspects of environmental & social impact assessment of projects
  • Experience in the management of grievances and supporting systems
  • Demonstrated experience in partnering with stakeholders to deliver social sustainability
  • Competent across the Microsoft Office suite
  • Demonstrated public speaking and report writing experience across all levels of the organization
