Swisscontact is recruiting a Technical Training Lead in Agriculture (m/f), to be based in Nampula, Mozambique.
Description
- As the Technical Training Lead, you will disseminate agriculture best practices with commercial farmers, services providers, processors, retailers, and smallholder farmers in Northern Mozambique, and beyond. You will travel up to 60% of your time – a flexible schedule is required. The candidate is ideally located in Nampula
Duties
- Proactively collaborate with Agronomy, Product Marketing, Field Force Excellence and Training teams to identify, design, develop and implement agronomic and technical training to address key business needs. Such training will be aligned with annual sales timelines (Campaign) and will focus on grower benefits, value proposition and ROI
- Develop better planting, cultivation, and harvesting techniques, improving crop yield, and solving problems for clients
- Research and promote agricultural strategies to counter the effects of changes in soil, climate, weather, and pest damage
- Frequent inspection and scouting of all trial plantings to ensure high success rates
- Manage effective trial networks according to strategic needs. Closely liaise with trialing contractors to ensure trial implementation
- Create interactive lesson plans, training tools, and approved reference materials through the creative use of multimedia
- Work with business teams to identify and source any funding required to execute technical training initiatives
- Select and deploy the appropriate instructional methods (classroom, on-line, in-field activities, role plays, digital tools, farmer field school, etc.) that maximize agronomic and product learning and improve business results
- Inspire audiences to establish habitual learning practices and momentum for continuous learning and improvement
- Work with agronomic community, recommend agronomic demonstrations to address key customer/grower concerns and showcase the company’s portfolio at demonstration sites
- Coordinate and facilitate train the trainer sessions for Agronomy Reps on technical training lesson plans, interactive implementation, proficiency testing and tracking.
- Co-create technical onboarding plans for new Agronomy Reps, Developmental Sales Reps, and Sales Representatives
- Ensure coordination of training efforts between seeds, seed care and crop protection commercial field personnel
- Set-up of coaching programs on agribusiness management for female entrepreneurs and youth
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators and outcomes of training initiatives
Requisites
- B.Sc. Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in related role
- Experience designing and/or delivering training programs
- Knowledge of local language/Products/Markets
- Wide knowledge in agronomy, pests and diseases
- Familiar with data analyzing and statistical tools
- Good knowledge of agricultural practices and seeds
- Presentations - Formal and field (including local language)
- Strong networking and relationship-building skills
- Coaching and/or people development experience
- Ability to assess business needs and design, develop and implement training programs
- Strong facilitation, presentation, and written communication skills
