Telephone Technician Assistant

US Embassy is recruiting a Telephone Technician Assistant, to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.

Duties

• The incumbent serves primarily as the embassy Telephone Technician Assistant and also to assist the Mail Room with pouch services as needed. Responsible for ensuring the proper functioning of the Embassy’s Private Branch Exchange (PBX) switches. Diagnoses equipment and line malfunctions
• Installs, relocates, and modifies telephone equipment. Establishes and maintains contacts with the local telephone and cellular phone vendors. Provides technical support for all issues related to local telephone lines, cellular phones, and satellite TV providers
• Serves as the primary account manager of all cellular telephones for subscribed employees

Requisites

• Completion of a secondary school (12th grade) is required
• At least one year experience working with telephone exchange systems (PBX) or as a journeyman telephone technician. Preferred PBX experience would be with Nortel telephone equipment, specifically the Business Communications Manager (BCM) is required
• Level III English (fluency in both written and verbal) is required. (Will be tested)
• Level III Portuguese (fluency in both written and verbal) is required. (Will be tested)
