Twigg Exploration & Mining, LDA is recruiting a Training Officer, to be based in Balama, Mozambique.
Duties
- To ensure that the National trainees and operators are trained in accordance with the Processing Department’s Safety and Training Procedures incorporating a Competency Based System that meets Syrah Resources and the Balama site standards
- Participate in periodical reviews of training manuals and current procedures
- Develop and deliver in house CBT programs for Processing department operational personnel
- Maintain accurate records for in-house Processing training programs
- Report on all training programs being developed, presented or assessed
- Report on the assessment of all personnel under training
- List resources required to implement training programs for submission to the Senior Training Advisor
- Maintain training resources for efficient usage
- Execute special tasks as directed by the Senior Training Advisor
- Maintain lesson plans
- Implement on the job training as per the training plan for the job
- Maintain records on Training and Safety statistics within the Processing Department
- Ensure training is progressing according to training and localisation goals
- Ensure that Processing Training’s KPI targets are achieved and maintained
- Promote sections of the Mozambique Labour Law, highlighting articles 57, 58 & 59
- Ensuring that safety procedures are adhered and reviewed as necessary
- Promote ongoing safety awareness to all the trainees and operators
- Attend site safety meetings
- Promote the consequences of environmental miss-management and the effect that a disregard for the environment will have on the social aspects of the Balama community
- Confer with the Process Engineers to gain knowledge of work situations requiring preventative or remedial training for trainee operators
- Conduct inductions for personnel into the Processing Operation’s sections/areas
- To train the National personnel in best practice, safety, environmental, plant operations, trouble-shooting, reporting of faults and taking the necessary remedial and corrective action in the area of their responsibility
- Assist the Senior Training Advisor with constructive ideas to maximise training in all areas of Processing operations
- Communicate with the Senior Training Advisor on the progress, performance and development of operators and trainees
- Highlight through training courses, the operator’s responsibilities to the Company and their work-mates
- Maintain a high level of health and safety awareness and comply with the Balama Occupational Health & Safety Policy and all health and safety rules and procedures
- Work in a manner that will not endanger themselves or any other person
- Through the use of procedures to get the job done, ensure that improvements to the procedures are captured and changes are made to controlled documents by the custodian
- Ensure effective communication with delegate prior to departure from site
Requisites
- University degree in Engineering (i.e. Mechanical, Electrical or Civil)
- Must be fluent in English (Writing and Speaking)
- Able to competently operate all, or most of the equipment used within all areas of the Processing Department
- At least 5-years process plant operational experience
- Qualifications & experience in delivering High Risk / OH&S training
- Qualifications & experience in delivering mobile equipment training
- Grade 12 education or equivalent
- Computer literacy and competent in the MS Suite
- Good communication & writing skills
- Commitment to Safety and Environment
- Total commitment to the training of Mozambique National citizens
- Work Knowledge:
- Formal training qualifications (INEFP endorsed), e.g. Train the Trainer Certificate
- Supervision Skills
- First Aid Certificate
- Command of both Portuguese and English linguaje
- Computer Skills:
- Good computer skills with the ability to use integrated management systems, word processing, presentation and spreadsheet applications Experience in MS Access highly regarded
- Communication Skills:
- Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the business
- Able to read and write English at an Upper Secondary School standard
- Ability to work unsupervised
- Able to work as part of a team and foster team building
- Ability to train and pass on knowledge
