- The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) is a global humanitarian agency comprised of over 120 supporting and implementing country offices, operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church to provide individual and community development and disaster relief. ADRA is committed to human rights, gender equality, children’s rights safeguarding as well the engagement of the most vulnerable groups
- ADRA in partnership with an international organization intent to implement a project in Sussundenga district, focused in Ecosystem-based Adaptation to Climate Change – Conserving and Building Resilience among the communities around Chimanimani National Reserve. The overall objective of the project is to contribute to the conservation of a network of globally land protected areas and their sustainable use zones by:
- I. enhancing ecosystem services that contribute to reducing climate change risks for vulnerable communities. To achieve this, the project will:
- II. Strengthen adaptive capacity and reduced exposure to climate risks
- III. Rehabilitate degraded ecosystems
- IV. Enhance climate resilience and sustainable livelihoods for communities
- V. Enhance knowledge, expertise, and capacity of relevant national agencies to use Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA) approaches protected zone management
VI. Strengthen institutional and regulatory systems for climate responsive planning and development
- ADRA is looking for a qualified person for the position of Livelihood Supervisor for the above-mentioned project. The position will be based in Sussundenga District, and will report to the Senior project Manager while working closely with field technicians
Duties
- Responsible for complying with the internal regulations, transport manual, logistics manual and Donor regulations in your district
- Plans, supervises and evaluates all agricultural extension activities;
- Approves field technicians trips
- Ensures and supervises the regular dissemination of technical material to the target group
- Supports technicians in defining the methodologies to be applied for the implementation of activities
- Ensure the quality and technical level of your district's activities through regular training of technicians and beneficiaries
- Conducts extension training in livelihoods and improvement of project staff, in the area of integrated ecosystem management and conduction of results demonstration camps
- Supports research activities in its area in accordance with the Organization's strategy
- Provides activity reports and recommendations according to the organization, project and donor requirements
Requisites
- Degree in Agriculture, Environment or Rural Development
- Two years of proven professional experience in the area in leadership roles
- Microsoft Office Domino (Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint)
- Fluency in Portuguese and English (spoken and written)
- Ability to work under pressure
