DAI SPEED is recruiting an Agriculture Intern, to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
Description
- The USAID Supporting the Enabling Environment for Development (SPEED) program supports the
Government of Mozambique (GRM) to develop and implement policies that improve the country’s
business enabling environment, thereby enhancing the role of the private sector in agriculture, trade
facilitation, health, energy, and biodiversity conservation. The program also strengthens economic
governance and public financial management and enhances the role of civil society in supporting
Mozambique’s ability to plan, manage, and finance its own development
- We are looking for dynamic and motivated young professionals to assist with implementation of this
important and exciting project activities in the agriculture portfolio
Duties
- The specific duties include, but are not limited to:
- Support the Portfolio Manager in administering and following- up on different assignments
- Attend meetings, take notes, translate short documents, draft reports
- Assist short- and long-term consultants by collecting and analyzing relevant data
- Assist with the drafting of the weekly and quarterly reports
- Assist in events (workshops/seminars) planning and implementation: draft and send invites,
provide assistance to participants, take notes and draft event reports
- Assist in the revision of consultants and grantees deliverables
- Support the Monitoring and evaluation:
- Participate in field work for selected activities, interview, gather information and data,
process and produce reports
- Carry out gender and age-analyses of various topics related to the agriculture sector and produce
short briefing notes and powerpoint presentations on the same
- Other tasks: Everyday workflow managed including operational activities, implementation of
workshops, seminars and setting up meetings
Requisites
- Student currently enrolled in a degree (or equivalent) in Economics, Agricultural Economics,
Agronomy or Development studies (university degree or diploma completed preferred)
- Research and analytical skills
- Excellent drafting/writing skills in Portuguese and English
- A mature understanding of development policy issues and challenges
- Gender analysis skills are an advantage
- A professional experience in the field of policy analytical work and M&E is an advantage
