- Program Description: TechnoServe Mozambique is working with Sida to design and implement a five-year, Women IN Business (WIN) program (2023-2025). WIN has an ambitious goal of empowering women across Mozambique by making sustainable improvements to their participation in the market place
- WIN uses a market systems approach (“M4P”) to support the growth and efficiency of women in business. WIN will work with partners across the public and private sector to invest in changes that benefit women. For example, increasing the involvement and power of women to buy and sell in the market, improving the quality of goods and services to women, and advocating to change the rules and norms that determine how women engage in business WIN’s activities will focus on sectors with high-growth potential for women, such as distribution systems, financial services or agriculture
- Role: The Business Advisor will support the Market Systems Manager to define and execute a strategy for one or more market systems under the WIN Program. Typically, the strategy will involve a series of interventions. Under each intervention, the Business Advisor will work with a small number of private and public sector actors within the market system, to prove the business case for changing their approach in favor of WOB. Then, the Business Advisor will support the Market Systems Manager to try to crowd in other actors to replicate the change
Duties
- Hold discussions with women and stakeholders to identify business needs and map out solutions
- Under the oversight of the Market Systems Manager, conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis of the business case for engaging women
- Synthesize findings from research and analysis
- Represent the program at networking and relationship meetings with private and public actors
- Manage work streams within program interventions – ensure that activities are carried out
- Support with managing external contractors and sub-grantees
- With support from the Knowledge and Results Manager, monitor and evaluate the progress of sector activities
Requisites
- Qualifications and skills:
- Relevant academic education in relation to Economics, Statistics, Agribusiness, Business Management, Marketing, Finance and Accounting or related fields
- At least 3-5 years’ experience working in the private sector in management consulting, market research, banking or related fields, or in an NGO/government role with orientation towards private sector development
- Commitment to advancing gender equality
- Confident and sensitive in communications with clients and stakeholders
- Able to conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis
- Experience in contributing to well-written reports and presentations
- Knowledge and experience in Making Markets Work for the Poor (M4P) is an advantage
- Fluent in Portuguese and English
