Business Advisor (m/f)

Duties

• The consultant will work under Catalisa Project Manager to support applicants for grants in preparation of financial models, regular check-ins with agribusiness partners in collecting and analyzing actual business performance data, advising agribusiness partners on course of action of their business based on actual performance against plan. The consultant will specifically:
• Collect, analyze business performance data from agribusiness partners; generate business management advice based on actual performance against plan
• Provide agribusiness partners guidance on good business practices, including legal compliance, through trainings
• Ensure that project objectives are followed and met within set timelines
• Support in coordination and implementation of the field activities for the poultry and horticulture components
• Prepare/review training materials for agribusiness partners

Deliverables

• Develop applicant business plans (whenever there is a request)
• Business models understood, refined, and submitted for all 15 Catalisa ABPs (January 15 th)
• Quarterly agribusiness partners narrative reports submitted to M&E by January 18th
• Agribusiness Partners financial reports and financial analysis reports submitted and sent to Project beneficiaries by January 31st
• Business advisory sessions held with relevant ABP to check their financial performance, marketing strategy, compliance (legal and tax registrations, Human Resources Policies, Corporate Governance procedures) and financial forecast adjustments if required, by February 15th
• Quarterly sales, costs, and volumes recorded in each model, assumptions updated (February 15th)
• Draft/updateagribusiness partners training material by Mach 12

Requisites

• 3-5 years of experience in financing and business advisory services (experience in the agribusiness sector preferable)
• Knowledge and experience of setting up and managing businesses.
• Knowledge and experience in working with small holder farmers and local Governments
• Knowledge of Mozambique/Cabo Delgado Poultry and horticulture sectors is desirable

• Logistics: TechnoServe will be responsible for the logistics of the Consultant to Pemba, including expenses in Pemba in line with TechnoServe policy (if the consultant is not local to Pemba), for local consultants, TechnoServe will only be responsible for logistics expenses outside Pemba, in line with TechnoServe policies
• This position is for a period of 3 months, to replace an employee getting in maternity leave shortly
