Adra is recruiting a Business Development/Grants Manager, to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
Duties
- Work with the Strategy Committee to clarify strategic intent
- Develop research methods and systems that detect and track upcoming and publically announced calls for proposals and concept notes
- Research other sources of funds for projects and engage in fund raising as needed, specifically
- Establish short- and long-range goals for tapping sources of funds
- Seek support/advice from staff members of donor institutions.
- Lead/manage the Business Development Team in necessary activities to respond to targeted opportunities. a) Manage the following grant response process: i)Research opportunities, ii) Identify target opportunities, iii) For targeted opportunities, produce/clarify/quantify the following: (1) Development needs and appropriate development responses. (2)Corresponding logic frameworks, causal frameworks, key indicators M&E plans, and overall budgets. iv) Manage the production of concept papers and/or proposals for potential donors in close collaboration with executive management and rest of the Business Development Team. Ensure compliance with submission guidelines and deadlines. v) Manage timely concept note/grant proposal submissions. Specifically, this includes final editing, printing, binding and shipping. b) Work with ADRA program staff to develop project concepts/proposals/plans related to specific donor interests. i) Unsolicited proposals and concept notes. c) Maintain the Business Development database. i) E.g. track opportunities, calls, activities, costs and results.
- Organize campaigns as implied by the strategy plan, targeting individual donors and donor organizations (e.g., major donors, direct mail shots, and boards of trustees)
- Maintain regular correspondence with foundations, donors, and board members; overseeing mailings
- Develop and maintain relationships by ensuring effective public relations and communication with sponsors and families to keep them abreast of existing and upcoming community engagements
- Help to plan events as needed
- The organizational ability to track the status of many concurrent initiatives—a number of proposals in production at the same time –and always to meet the required deadlines
Requisites
- A sincere commitment to the mission and goals of ADRA Moçambique and ADRA’s development approach
- Knowledge of the development industry, trends and driving forces
- Above average communication skills (speaking, listening and writing) in English and Portuguese. Skills in English must be at a high level, as most proposals are in English
- Solid facilitation skills (conducting effective meetings and motivating team members)
- Computer competency in MS Office—particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Internet search tools
- Analytical, organizational and leadership skills
- Professional attitude, competitive spirit, optimism, confidence and driven work style
- Ability to work in a demanding self-directed work schedule
- A track record of being involved with the production of previous successful proposals between 1-15 million USD. Specifically, experience in writing proposals for national and international organizations like UN, USAID, USDA, EU, Global Fund among others
