The World Bank is recruiting a Client Technologies Associate, to be based in Maputo.
Duties
- Works with basic infrastructure products and basic networking products
- Provides maintenance and support for basic client products, peripherals, network and physical moves
- Works on one or more projects concurrently as a project team member
- Perform a variety of general administrative tasks for the technical program, routine, non- complex systems and network administration, and training
- Provides IT support and informal training on hardware and software use in response to client requests
- Establishes a liaison relationship with business partners in order to provide technical solutions to meet user needs
- Works with vendor technical support to resolve client problems
- Provides input during short-term project planning efforts with team members
- May participate in short-term planning sessions with clients
- Documents discussion and agreements
- Responds to Tier I support requests via multiple sources such as phone and email
- Enters call data into the tracking system
- Interacts with clients in a courteous and professional manner
- Configures and installs PCs, peripheral equipment, and other personal computing devices
- Performs conversions from desktop to laptop
- Coordinates plans and schedules the installation and deployment of new images, software/hardware upgrades and fixes
- Provides feedback on new software performance and testing.
- Troubleshoots and diagnoses escalated problems by evaluating multiple options using checklists and guides
- Seeks technical assistance or escalates problem, when necessary
- Implements predetermined software or hardware changes to rectify any issues
- Identifies recurring issues impacting service(s) and alerts team members
- Documents incident/problem status and resolution in tracking log
- Documents solutions to common problems and responses to frequently asked questions
- Communicates updates on issues in a timely manner to ensure client satisfaction and productivity
- May provide on-the-spot training to clients
- May develop procedures based on Continuity Plans for on- and off-site databases, mainframes and servers
- Verifies that system backups run successfully
- Implements contingency plans including reliable backup and restore procedures
- Member of emergency management team (EMT) providing local/VPU based EMT support
- In consultation with ISG network engineers, monitors status and performance of operating systems, applications, e-mail servers and LANs/WANs using testing tools (Escalates when appropriate)
- Manages user access to LANs, WANs, servers, files and databases
- Administers Active Directory related functions such the set up of new profiles, creates and updates access permissions and system policies and maintains user accounts
- Coordinates the development of external web sites
- Trains and supports content providers on how to post content and the use of web maintenance tools
- Supports the development and implementation of web strategy
- Provides training in information management systems such as IRIS, Client Connection, etc
- Escalates problems, not resolved locally, to central product teams and follows up to ensure resolution
- Installs and programs HF and VHF radio instruments
- Identifies and procures HF and VHF radios
- Troubleshoots and monitors the performance of HF and VHF
- Monitors local leased circuits and the point to point international leased circuit/ISP link with DC
- Troubleshoots and diagnoses common network problems, coordinating the resolution with the circuit provider and Bank NOC
- May identify end-user training needs
- Delivers standard training to clients
- Coordinates with resource management and facilities staff to provide a diverse set of services including the technical aspects of local procurement of hardware and equipment, asset management, electricity/air conditioning maintenance and vendor selection and management
- Provides input to IT budget and presents to management for approval
Requisites
- Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 3 years relevant experience or Associates Degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience (Sample degrees include: Computer Science, Library Science, Information Management or Information Systems)
