DAI is recruiting a Communications Intern, to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
Description
- The Communications Intern will support the Communications Manager in executing and
enhancing communication efforts across various media platforms. The intern will be
responsible for assisting with content development, social media management, event planning,
and internal reporting. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience in communications within an international development context, while contributing to impactful policy reform activities in
Mozambique
- Project: Supporting the Policy Enabling Environment for Development (SPEED)
- Duration: 6 months
- Supervisor: Communications Manager, USAID’s SPEED Project
- Project Overview: The USAID SPEED project supports Mozambique's economic growth by advancing policy
reforms in key sectors such as agriculture, energy, biodiversity, and economic governance. The
project works closely with the Government of Mozambique, the private sector, and civil society
to strengthen economic governance and improve the country’s business environment
- The Communications Intern will assist in the implementation of SPEED's communication
strategy, helping to ensure that key messages and achievements are effectively communicated
to diverse stakeholders, including USAID, government officials, private sector actors, and the
public
Duties
Content Creation
- Assist in drafting, editing, and proofreading project reports, newsletters, blog
posts, and success stories
- Contribute to the development of press releases, social media posts, and other
communications materials
- Collaborate with technical teams to generate content that highlights the
project’s milestones and impact
Social Media Management
- Help manage the project’s social media accounts by scheduling posts, tracking
engagement, and generating relevant content
- Research and propose new ways to increase the project’s visibility on social
media platforms
Event Support
- Assist in the organization of project events, such as workshops, press
conferences, and public outreach activities
- Provide logistical and communication support during events, including drafting
event reports and summaries
Internal Communication
- Help prepare internal reports, such as weekly highlights and quarterly reports,
summarizing project achievements for USAID and other stakeholders
- Support the development of internal newsletters and staff updates
Requisites
- Education: Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field
- Skills:
- Strong writing and editing skills in English (Portuguese is a plus)
- Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation tools
- Experience with graphic design, photography, or video editing is an asset
- Other:
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Interest in development communication and international policy reform
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
