DAI SPEED is recruiting an Communications Manager , to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
Description
- The Communication Manager will lead the Communications team at SPEED project and be responsible for
implementing the communications plan. This involves ensuring strategic visibility of all project activities
and outputs
- Effectively communicating project impact to project stakeholders and beneficiaries
- Assisting project partners to effectively use communication tools for advocacy
Scope of Work
- The Communications Manager will work closely with project leadership and technical staff to implement
the Communications Plan; strengthen strategic communication/advocacy capacity for local partners; work
with the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Manager to monitor project activities, gather beneficiary
feedback and support dissemination of project learning and results; and contribute to regular project
reporting.
Duties
- Lead the implementation of the SPEED Communications Plan
- Work closely with technical staff during annual work plan development (and project
Collaboration, Learning and Adaption (CLA) sessions) to identify key project activities and key
project partners that will require communication support, and outline potential communication
support activities and proposed timeline
- Identify communication tools (blogs, articles, social media content, USAID-specific platforms
like Agrilinks and Exposure, impact communication pieces like the Private Water Provider
Briefer) and work with technical staff to develop an agreed timeline for the production of relevant
pieces during each project year
- Ensure all communication products, project branding and messaging complies with the project’s
Branding and Marking Plan and other USAID regulations
- Identify communication pieces that require external support (graphic designer, data visualization,
etc.); lead technical aspects of procurement; and manage the resulting subcontracts
- Work with technical staff to manage and support the delivery of agreed communication pieces
within the timeline
- Strengthen capacity of project partners to successfully develop and manage strategic
communication strategies for advocacy
- Support the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Manager to monitor project activities, gather
beneficiary feedback, and disseminate project learning and results
- Supervise the Communications Officer targets and performance-based objectives will be assigned based on the scope of work
Requisites
- A Bachelor’s degree in a related field with a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience,
Master’s degree preferred
- Strong communications experience in local and international spheres, including experience on
USAID-funded projects or donor-funded initiatives
- Strong storytelling skills (written, verbal)
- Well-developed analytical writing skills, communications, and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with MS Office software
- Excellent English writing, speaking, and reading skills
