DFID is recruiting a Programme Officer, to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
Duties
- As a Programme Officer you would be a member of the Governance and Economic Policy Team. The role of the Programme Officer (PO) is to provide high quality and timely programme management advice and implementation of tasks to enable effective and efficient programme delivery
- Under the direction of the Deputy Programme Manager (DPM), the PO will be responsible for ensuring that all programmes are managed efficiently and effectively in accordance with DFID policy and procedures. The PO will work jointly with each project SRO/lead adviser providing high quality programme management support and advice
- The PO will work on programmes and/or policy areas defined by the Team Leader and in agreement with the DPM
- Programme Management: This area of work requires execution of key tasks around the programme cycle, in compliance with DFID’s Programme Management rules (‘Smart Rules’)
- Financial Management: This area focuses on effective financial management throughout the programme cycle, in compliance with Smart Rules
- Policy: This area requires an understanding of the policy and technical issues relevant to team’s objectives and actively participate in technical discussions and decisions around projects and policy work within team and across the office Administrative: This area requires completion of key administrative tasks to support the team and the wider office
Requisites

- At least 3 years’ experience with a donor, government and/or NGO in managing development programmes and projects
- Graduate qualification in development or a social science
- Knowledge and understanding of international aid
- Proven track record of delivering tasks and managing multiple priorities
- Proven track record in financial management
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to take initiative, prioritise and manage own workload
- Capacity to work effectively with a wide range of people from diverse background
- Fluent Portuguese and English
- Citizenship or an existing legal right to live and work in Mozambique
