Dispute-Resolution Advisor (m/f)

Description

• The purpose of the assignment is to provide a brief inventory of the prevailing disputes that persist between farmers and off-takers in various intervention areas in which FTF Inova is engaged and analyze how they are handled. This will include assessing the prevailing resolution practices and how they are perceived by the farmers in terms of fairness, transparency and cost-effectiveness. The consultant will also provide advice on methods and tools to use that are compatible with the Mozambican law and that can reduce the amount and depth of conflicts between farmers and buyers/traders. Examples of such tools are: pictorial contracts, verbal contracts, alternative dispute resolutions, etc. The findings from the analysis will be of use for both FTF Inova and its partners. The report should therefore be short, and prepared in a direct and clear language

Requisites

• The consultant must have the following qualifications:
• An advanced degree in a field relevant to the purposes of this assignment
• Substantial experience in performing dispute resolution and mediation
• Proficiency in English and Portuguese
• It is preferred that the consultants also have the following qualifications:
• At least five years of experience working in a relevant field
• Experience performing dispute resolution and mediation in a low-income and/or rural setting
• Familiarity with trade in agricultural settings at the smallholder-farmer level
