Chemonics is recruiting a Ferramenta Central DB Advisor (m/f), to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
Description
  • Project: Global Health Supply Chain – Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC-PSM) Mozambique
  • The overall goal of GHSC-PSM is to procure and provide health commodities for all USAID health programs, including but not limited to, HIV/AIDS, Malaria, Family Planning, and Maternal & Child Health, as well as provide systems strengthening technical assistance to improve supply chain management and commodity security in Mozambique
  • The Ferramenta Central DB Advisor will be responsible for the development and maintenance of Ferramenta Central software. Analyze performance of applications and troubleshoot problems. He/She will be involved in the coding, testing and documentation of the FC system
  • The Ferramenta Central DBA Advisor will report directly to the Ferramenta Central Manager
Duties
  • Facilitate the collaborative development of user requirements, including business process mapping, developing use cases, and translating program needs into functional requirements
  • Develop technical specifications for FC system improvements, user appropriateness, reporting, security, performance, regulatory compliance, and training functions
  • Collaborate with other developers, programmers, and designers in conceptualizing and development of new software programs and applications
  • Analyze and assess existing business systems and procedures
  • Assist in the definition, development, and documentation of software’s business requirements, objectives, deliverables, and specifications on a project-by-project basis in collaboration with internal users and CMAM
  • Assist in defining software development project plans, including scoping, scheduling, and implementation
  • Collaborate with teams to integrate systems
  • Develop and execute database queries and conduct analyses
  • Create visualizations and reports as requested
  • Develop and update technical documentation
  • Develop reports and business custom indicators
  • Develop and maintain database scripts
  • Ensures quality of master data in key systems, as well as support ongoing maintenance and data integrity
  • Identify areas for data quality improvements and help to resolve data quality problems through process control and improvement, or process design strategies
  • Support the design and implementation of data warehouse and business intelligence solutions
  • Maintain and support data analytics platforms (e.g. MicroStrategy or PowerBI)
  • Create tools to store data (e.g. OLAP cubes)
  • Responsible for analyzing and identifying system performance issues, recoding bugs, testing fixes and implementing the solution identified
  • Other duties as required by the FC Manager
Requisites
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of Information Technology
  • 5+ years of relevant object-oriented application building experience in a professional environment
  • Extremely strong Computer Science fundamentals and analytical abilities; deep knowledge of object-oriented programming languages such as Java, Python, C# or C++ and architectures, such as microservices, SOA and distributed systems
  • Excellent understanding of coding methods and best practices
  • Thorough understanding of relational databases such as MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL or similar DBMS
  • Background in data warehouse design (e.g. dimensional modeling) and data mining
  • Familiarity with BI technologies (e.g. Pentaho, SpagoBI, or PowerBI)
  • Full Stack Developer with proven knowledge in new web technologies
  • Agile/Scrum development cycle understanding
  • Experience with Open Source Software’s
  • Relevant experience specifically related to logistics information management systems (LMIS) and web-based systems, strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience for designing, managing, and implementing donor-funded MIS programs in developing countries or low-resource settings preferred
  • Experience working on an USAID or donor-funded project preferred
  • Experience with CMAM supply chain and CMAM LMIS preferred
  • Able to communicate effectively with non-technical staff and with members of interdisciplinary teams
  • Fluency in Portuguese and English is required
