Grindrod is recruiting a Finance Manager, to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
Duties
- All financial and administrative processes and systems
- Total supply chain management systems
- Managing internal and external audit processes
- Managing subordinates to achieve company objectives. Financial communication maintained with clients
- Ensure effective communication with all financial and administrative staff
- Coordinate and maintain all insurance related requirements and processes
- All incidents reports investigated and corrective measures followed up
- Maintain and enforce procurement process
- Accurately document monthly financial performance for all operational areas
Financial Management
- Oversee overall financial process adhering to relevant instructions and guidelines
- Analyse all financial information and identify / implement action plans to mitigate risk or realising savings
- Maintaining and co-ordinating all financial reporting and statements while still keeping to relative time frames and specified conditions
- Month-end financial reporting with statements to Grindrod
- Maintain commercial contractual obligations
- Maintain accurate and up to date asset registers
- Coordinate accurate completion of all relevant tax returns
- Take appropriate action under unforeseen circumstances
- Keep accurate records of all transactions, using relevant documentation
- Continuous improvement on all financial processes
- Identify and manage financial risks
- Facilitate and coordinate annual zero based projected budgets
Project Management
- Manage financial processes associated with capital expenditure
- Identify and motivate specific expansion and development projects
- Prepare and submit project applications
- Coordinate and manage long term loans
- Prepare, distribute and recommend applications/ forms/ agreements/ contracts
Ensure Compliance with Relevant Legislation
- Adheres to Tax and Accounting Laws. Including ensuring compliance with all tax submissions and requirements on time
- Adheres to all other relevant legislation
- Ensures that the insurer’s requirements are adhered to
Requisites
- CA or CIMA qualification
- Accounting degree or equivalent
- Knowledge of accepted accounting practices and principles
- Knowledge of applicable laws, codes and regulations
- Knowledge and experience of related computer applications
- Minimum of 5 years practical experience in Financial Management
- Ideally have a background and experience in quality management processes
- Strong management and organisational skills with ability to lead staff/teams
- Demonstrates the ability to communicate meaning, relevance and implications of financial information to financial and non-financial people
- Demonstrates commitment to management, teamwork, service, integrity and confidentiality
- Demonstrates the ability to engage with, motivate and encourage team members in the achievement of results, through initiative and taking responsibility
- Demonstrates ability to prioritise and plan work, handle a diversity of tasks simultaneously, meet deadlines consistently, manage projects and coping under pressure;Demonstrates a thorough understanding of accounting, taxation and audit theory
- Ability to meet reporting deadlines and deal effectively with customer/clients demands
- Strong overall personnel management and delegation skills
- Effective industry and quality compliance knowledge
- Strong problem solving ability and identification of departmental needs and potential threats
- Excellent and effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Good understanding of accounts in order to manage debtors / creditors
- Computer literacy – MS Word, advanced MS Excel
- Valid driver’s licence essential
- Ability to read / speak Portuguese will be an advantage
