Creative is recruiting a Finance Officer (Consultant) (m/f), to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
Description
  • Creative Associates is the lead organization on a five-year, USAID-funded early grade reading project with the aim to improve early grade reading outcomes in the target provinces of Nampula and Zambezia. The project will focus on three main areas of intervention to achieve its goal to improve students’ reading fluency and comprehension in the mother tongue by the end of their second year of school: 1) improve the quality of reading instruction at the early primary level, 2) improve policy frameworks and delivery systems for early grade reading, and 3) increase parental and community engagement in early grade reading. The project will have a main office in Maputo with field offices in Nampula and Zambezia
  • Position summary: The Finance Officer will be responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to review documents, prepare and process accurate and timely payments
  • Reporting & Supervision: The Finance Officer will report to Sr Finance Manager
Duties
  • Prepare payment and adjustment vouchers making sure that all the supporting documents are complete and enter the same in the accounting software, Dynamics on daily basis
  • Make sure that costs are allocated to correct account and task codes
  • Receive and review all travel and per diem authorization forms and prepare staff advances and liquidation
  • Issue checks after vouchers approvals and get vendors’ acknowledgement of its receipt
  • Enter payments in the Net plus after approval of payment voucher
  • Ensure that petty cash payments are made within the established limits and make sure that replenishment is made on time
  • Conducting petty cash count
  • Scan and upload all vouchers on the share drive on daily basis and make sure that Dynamics and share drive is reconciled
  • Prepare monthly local staff payroll in accordance with local labor laws
  • Ensure that all vouchers and correspondences is filed and readily accessible
  • Prepare periodic and monthly bank reconciliation
  • Perform other related duties as recommended by the supervisor
Requisites
  • Previous experience working on programs funded by international donors (preferably USAID) desired, or relevant experience
  • BA/BS degree in relevant field highly desired; High School diploma required
  • Must have 5+ years' general work experience and 2+ years prior relevant experience in the area of accounting
  • Effective communication skills; fluency in Portuguese and knowledge of spoken and written English highly desired
