Twigg Exploration & Mining is recruiting a Financial Reporting and Compliance Manager, to be based in Pemba, Mozambique.
Duties
- Assists in the development and implementation of goals, policies, priorities, and procedures relating to financial management, budget, accounting, and/or payroll
- Supervises and participates in the preparation of various financial statements and reports
- Directs the setting up and maintenance of accounting records to show receipts and expenditures
- Directs the maintenance of general and subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable, revenue distribution, depreciation, cost, property, and operating expenses, and insurance records
- Directs and participates in cost analyses and rate studies
- Prepares statements and reports of estimated future costs and revenues
- Directs internal audits involving review of accounting and administrative controls
- Establishes system controls for new financial systems and develops procedures to improve existing systems
- Coordinates preparation of external audit materials and external financial reporting
- Reviews financial statements with management personnel
- Manages tax issues and legal obligations regarding tax and ensuring we are tax compliant, meeting deadlines and ensuring reporting is accurate
- Oversee management of the Chart of Accounts
- Oversee and manage Asset Registers in country
- Oversee and manage reconciliations of petty cash and banking
- Directs the installation and maintenance of new accounting, timekeeping, inventory, property, and other related procedures and controls as required
- Analyze financial performance against key business metrics and document pertinent financial highlights that will enable management to determine progress against budgets
- Identify, investigate, and analyze potential operational improvement; As appropriate, based on findings make proposal for operational changes (policy, procedures, processes, etc.)
- Ensuring compliance with applicable laws and procedures
- Develop and maintain financial accounting systems for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, and petty cash
- Works with Balama Management to support them in understanding and managing their monthly departmental costs
- Manages the performance of the team on a daily basis and ensures they are working to plan
- Contributes to the weekly/monthly reporting process
Requisites
- Preferable Masters degree in Financial Accounting or equivalent
- Certified by OCAM or other relevant Certification
- High Experience in General Tax Obligation (IRPS, IRPC, VAT, INSS, etc.)
- Knowledge on payroll processing
- Experience on cost allocation as WBS elements
- Four to six years progressively responsible experience in in mining industry
- Exceptional ability to build and maintain credible work relationships
- Sound computer proficiency and experience across Microsoft Office (strongly in Excel and Word)
- Able to work with ERP Financial Software (PRONTO)
- Knowledge of Statutory accounting principles
- Strong analytical and accounting skills
- Strong judgment skills to review the Trial Balance
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in Portuguese and English
