Blue Ventures is recruiting a Head of Partnerships (m/f), to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
Description
- We are currently recruiting a Head of Partnerships to lead the development of operational capacity in our high performing and ambitious Outreach team. Blue Ventures’ Outreach team works through a growing portfolio of partners across the globe, supporting coastal communities to rebuild their fisheries. The position will have a primary focus in providing leadership to build resilience and capability in how the Outreach team functions. Additionally, this role will be responsible for taking Blue Ventures’ approach to conservation to scale by finding and onboarding new partners across the globe
- Reporting to the Outreach Director, this is a full time role, with regular travel to work with colleagues, partners, field teams and communities internationally. This position will have a number of line management responsibilities
- The successful candidate will be a motivated, proactive and highly organized individual, with an excellent knowledge of team leadership, operations and growth
- You will have a proven track record of team building, management, operations and leadership. Ideally, you will have experience of community-based conservation and development initiatives. You will thrive in environments that are collegiate and inspiring, and be able to demonstrate experience of working independently and solving complex problems in challenging situations
- Assessment of applications will include candidates’ alignment with BV’s core values and mission to support human rights-based approaches to marine conservation and fisheries management

Duties
Operational leadership and development of the Outreach team
- Developing and embedding the operational vision, goals, systems and tools within the Outreach team
- Building a team and capability to deliver strategic ambition, matching Blue Ventures’ 2025 Vision
- Ensuring the team’s ways of working are pragmatic, harmonized, efficient and are focussed on impact
- Overseeing and implementing Blue Ventures’ Health, Safety and Safeguarding programme across the Outreach team and countries of operation
Identifying new partners
- Scoping for new partners in key geographies (Latin America and the Caribbean, West Africa, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines and South Pacific), Often remotely/virtually
- Working with the team’s programme managers, ensuring partners are assessed and selected in a transparent, replicable way using tools that are shared and understood across the Outreach team
- Supporting the onboarding of new partners, possibly remotely/virtually, ensuring partnerships are set up to maintain BV’s high quality approach
Communications
- Ensure that all staff working within the Outreach team are fully informed of Blue Ventures' operational priorities and kept abreast of new developments and ways of working

Requisites
- Postgraduate degree (or equivalent) in relevant fields and/or proven experience in process improvement experience, operational and team leadership
- Excellent skills in communication of complex information to a diverse range of stakeholders
- Fluency in written and spoken English
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Confident, strong interpersonal skills and ability to relate to and work effectively with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures, at all levels
- Capacity to undertake research and development work independently as well as part of a team
- Strong technical reporting skills, and experience of preparing project reports for funders
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office, Google Apps, and social media tools (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Google plus)
- Excellent interpersonal and motivational skills
- Desired:
- Demonstrable practical experience working in community-based conservation or development in a low-income country
- Competency in language of the country e.g. Malagasy, French, Spanish, Bahasa, Portuguese, etc.
