World Education is recruiting a Health Specialist, to be based in Chimoio, Mozambique.
Duties
- Oversee high quality, integrated, gender-sensitive programming in community-based OVC, HIV/AIDS, Family Planning and Reproductive Health services, and ensure that project objectives and targets are met
- Work directly with local partners, government health and social welfare staff and service providers to increase OVC access to primary health care
- Build capacity of NGO partners to roll-out models designed to stimulate demand and improve access to PMTCT and pediatric ART services for OVC
- Provide oversight and guidance to provincial and district level efforts to identify, strengthen and maintain community-based referral pathways that link OVC to health and HIV services and other critical social services
- Support the roll out of national initiatives intended to improve the technical quality of programming for children infected and affected by HIV/AIDS, with a particular focus on adolescent girls
- Submit timely and accurate reports related to progress and other reports as required to the COP for onward submission to the donor
Requisites
- A Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Public Health, or other relevant professional qualification
- 5+ years managing donor-funded programs with demonstrated capacity to create and/or maintain complex systems and procedures involving multiple implementation sites, multiple partners and diverse beneficiaries
- Demonstrated practical experience and knowledge of the practical technical skills necessary for strengthening community-based OVC, HIV/AIDS, and youth-friendly family planning and reproductive health services
- Experience working with CSO’s in advocacy training and institutional capacity building
- Demonstrated strong analytical, managerial, leadership, communications and interpersonal skills
- Effective English and Portuguese oral and written communications skills; ability to interact professionally in both English and Portuguese is required
