DAI SPEED is recruiting an Internship Program Candidates for Communications (m/f), to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
Description
- The USAID Supporting the Enabling Environment for Development (SPEED) program supports the Government of Mozambique (GRM) to develop and implement policies that improve the country’s business enabling environment, thereby enhancing the role of the private sector in agriculture, trade facilitation, health, energy, and biodiversity conservation. The program also strengthens economic governance and public financial management and enhances the role of civil society in supporting Mozambique’s ability to plan, manage, and finance its own development
Duties
- The specific duties include, but not limited to:
Content Development
- Assist the elaboration of articles, press releases, invitation and blogs on topics and activities identified by the project. General area for articles will be policy reforms to support private sector development in the SPEED technical component areas of Agriculture, Trade and Investment, Business Enabling Environment, Energy, Water, and Biodiversity Conservation
- Contribute to the development of printed communication materials, including editing images/photos and layout
Media
- Assist monitor SPEED presence in the media and keep track of articles written about SPEED related activities (media clipping)
- Assist update and expand the SPEED media contact database
Project Events
- Assist with the coordination and logistical preparation for SPEED events, business breakfasts, workshops, conferences, and public consultations
- Attend events, take photographs and assist with same day coordination
- Assist in the organization and updating of photo library
- Write articles about the events
Project Website and social media
- Assist upload articles on the SPEED website
- Assists update the project Facebook page
Requisites
- Student currently enrolled in a degree (or equivalent) in Journalism, Communication or a related field
- Good knowledge of English language in writing and speaking is essential
- Knowledge in writing, editing and producing materials for newspapers, website and social media
- Ability to communicate simply, clearly and effectively with excellent written and editing skill
- Willingness to work on a team
- Basic knowledge of editing software (photoshop, Canva, etc.)
- Experience taking high quality photos for publications and managing social media pages strongly preferred
