Junior Data Management Specialist

Duties

• Assignment Background: Initial value chain and market systems assessments have identified input supply as one of the critical constraints for agriculture value chains in Mozambique. Extensive market distortion (from government and donor subsidies) and low effective demand among poor smallholder farmers have long presented challenges to the development of a private sector input market in Mozambique. Input suppliers have generated much of their business from government/donor contracts. There is increasing awareness among all stakeholders that the subsidized approach must change, and events such as the collapse of the state owned seed company SEMOC and the proliferation of small private sector seed firms has demonstrated that this shift is occurring
• FTF Inova has signed a partnership with Klein Karoo (K2) to test new marketing approaches and distribution to smallholders, piloting innovative models and providing a demonstration effect across the input supply market. Three village events have been organized during the months of October and November 2017. K2 is now using the data gathered during these events to populate their Customers Relationship Management platform
• Objective: The Data Management Specialist will help K2 disaggregate and organize data to be able to summary and provide illustrate trends of sales, volumes, and tendencies of purchase. Data entry may be required to update and correct already existing information
• Reporting: The Jr. Data Management Specialist will report to Charles Mabaie (Marketing Officer, Klein Karoo) or his designee

Duties

• Responsible for compiling, maintaining, analyzing and presenting market, customer, & internal company sales data to evaluate performance and sales strategies in the market
• Review, correct, and maintains sales records to ensure categories/segments of clients, location, and other information is accurate in coordination with K2 staff
• Work with K2 management and FTF Inova on developing analytical reports that provide segmented client types and other information
• Improve current sales recording system so that it is easier to analyze data and make predictions based on previous sales
• Forecast and track marketing and sales trends, analyzing collected data
• Prepare reports of findings, illustrating data graphically and translating complex findings into written text

Requisites

• BA or BS degree (advanced quantitative or business degree a plus)
• Three (3) years of experience in quantitative analytics
• Advanced analysis and reporting skills in Microsoft Excel including the ability to write & combine formulas such as SUMIFS, SUMPRODUCT, INDEX, MATCH, and VLOOKUP
• Deep interest in analyzing data and the ability to see beyond the numbers to drive sound decision-making
• Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills
• Good creative and critical thinking skills
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
