Duties
In charge of maintaining and updating the financial forecast models for both VM SA and M-Pesa SA.
- Build on and improve reporting models and assumptions working closely with the rest of the business (mainly Commercial and Technology) producing robust plans, clear models and assumptions validated by the ExCo
- Identify key performance and operational metrics
- Understand, identify and communicate the key risks to the financial plan
- Provide commercial finance support on any business case
Budgeting/Forecasting
- Ensure the forecast model is continuously updated with actuals (financials and KFIs)
- Monitor trends to ensure timely feedback is provided on any deviations against the plan
- Ensure the business units populate the required inputs for the forecast on a timely basis
- Take ownership for the completion of specific parts of the forecast model (opex and capex) and assist the EHOD Finance Management on the completion of the overall forecast (incl. revenue, direct costs, acquisition and retention etc.)
Commercial Finance
- Work with the EHOD Finance Management on the preparation, verification and completion of any business case which requires a finance approval
- Collect and interpret all the relevant raw data to be used in the completion of the business case
- Collect and interpret all the relevant raw data to be used in the business case’s post-implementation review
Requisites
- Problem solving and analysis ability (this is a key requirement for both Financial Planning and Commercial Finance)
- Planning and organising skills
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal (English and Portuguese)
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (advanced Excel skills are required for this position)
- Must be able to work under pressure and manage multiple projects at a time (workload increases significantly during forecasting periods)
- Interpersonal skills required to work with employees at all levels in the rest of the business
- Excellent Communication skills (the role will require good report writing skills and might require some presentations to be made)
- Facilitation skills
- Knowledge of accounting
- Minimum undergraduate degree in commerce or accounting
- Experience in a similar role within a big company
- Experience in the mobile telecommunications sector would be considered a valuable asset
