CNFA is recruiting a Market Systems Director - Mozambique (m/f), to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
Description
- CNFA is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Market Systems Director for a USAID-funded Feed the Future Markets Systems Activity in Mozambique. This Activity will facilitate the development of a competitive agricultural market system that is inclusive, resilient, and sustainable in the provision of goods and services demanded by actors. The approach for this activity will help identify and minimize the root causes of market failure that disadvantage and exclude the vulnerable, women, and youth. This Activity will also create incentives for market actors to invest in developing and sustaining productive relationships for the efficient delivery of goods and services and an improved enabling and regulatory environment for agricultural sector growth. This Activity provides USAID the opportunity to target solutions such as: build an inclusive and responsive financial system for rural individuals and SMEs; address the inefficiencies in the inputs distribution system; establish strong and transparent relationships between actors; among others
Requisites
- At least seven (7) years of experience in economic development/competitiveness program design and implementation using a market systems facilitation approach, with experience in the Zambezia, Nampula and Sofala regions of Mozambique strongly preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics, business, or related field with specialized study in market systems development required, Master’s degree is preferred
- Expert-level experience in analyzing trends, opportunities, and challenges across value chains and designing and implementing strategies and interventions that engage the private sector to facilitate inclusive and sustainable improvements at the market system level
- Demonstrated experience and technical knowledge in gender and youth engagement, particularly related to food security and agriculture development
- Demonstrated experience in creating and maintaining effective working relationships that foster collaborative learning
- Fluency in English required. Additional fluency in Portuguese is strongly desired
