Consultores HODI is recruiting for a Short-term Consultancy a Mental Health Specialist (m/f), in post-conflict post-cyclone context, to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
Duties
Expected deliverables
- Work plan: The Health Specialist will provide a Work Plan on how the report will be undertaken
- Study Draft Report: The Health Specialist will provide a draft report in Portuguese or English of a maximum of 30 pages (including appendices)
- Final Report: The Specialist will produce a final report within one week after receiving GAC’s comments on the draft report
- Presentation of Final Report: The Specialist will present the main findings and recommendations of the report to GAC, through a power point presentation
Requisites
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the mental health and psychosocial support services sector, or related fields, including sexual and gender-based violence, at least three (3) years of which was acquired in Mozambique or in conflict-affected countries. Experience in providing protection and social action, social assistance, legal and life skills support would be an asset
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in international development programs, preferably in or for a bilateral or multilateral development institution, or an NGO
- Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision
- Capacity to collect and analyze data
- Proven ability to analyze complex health issues and results/performance frameworks
- Ability to work in Mozambique (valid work permit, permanent residence permit or citizenship certificate)
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing in Portuguese, with English writing skills being an asset
- Must have advanced studies at the master’s level in health sciences, such as public health, psychology, psychiatry or a related field. A Doctorate degree would be considered an asset
- Sound understanding of the various issues related to Mozambican health system and mental health services in particular
- Sound understanding of programming in the areas of mental health and sexual and gender-based violence, preferably in fragile states, crisis and post-conflict settings
- Sound understanding of public and community health in Mozambique
- Sound understanding of gender equality principles
- Ability to communicate (read, write and speak) effectively Portuguese. Capacity to communicate in English would be considered an asset
