Mine Geologist

Twigg Exploration & Mining is recruiting a Mine Geologist, to be based in Balama, Mozambique.

Duties

• Collect primary geological information and perform open pit geological activities required to facilitate the safe, efficient and cost-effective extraction and of the mineral reserve within the Balama open pit mine
• Coordinate all of the geological functions including geological support to the mining department by providing information necessary for detailed mine planning, scheduling and grading
• Undertake daily geological duties including tonnage reconciliation, grade control mapping & drilling, sampling, plans and interpretations, stock management & monthly reporting
• Work closely with employees and contractors to ensure adherence with health & safety & environmental objectives
• Ensure optimum mine production performance through the correct implementation of all geological, grade control, production tracking, reconciliation and reporting practices
• Ensure accurate grade control and resource definition drilling, sampling and recording
• Gain geological and geotechnical knowledge from mapping of faces and walls, and logging of drill core and cuttings
• Process and interpret above data to provide accurate and practical ore blocks for mining
• Ensure clear and reliable ore mark-outs are created
• Liaise with mining contractors to ensure ore is dug in the most efficient manner, maximizing ore recovery and minimizing dilution

Requisites

• BS Degree (Honors) in Geology
• Minimum of 2 years relevant experience within the mining industry
• Demonstrated ability to learn, set achievable goals and safely achieve tasks is required
• Ability to work effectively within a team
• Computer literacy – Microsoft Office, Surpac software is preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrate ability to maintain or exceed best industry practice in all geological and environmental tasks
• Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices
• Valid Drive License
